When we all get to (Hee Haw) Heaven

No. I do not necessarily think Heaven is like Hee Haw. Well, maybe ONE part of Hee Haw. You know the part in every show where someone (often Buck Owens, but sometimes the banjo quartet or someone else) is singing and the whole Hee Haw gang is sitting around on the bales of hay, clapping and smiling and singing along? I could imagine something like that in Heaven.

I think those red, white & blue guitars are ringing up there this week. Former Buckaroo bassist Doyle Holly, who was part of the band at the very beginning of the Hee Haw days but more importantly was part of the band during the mid-to-late 1960's, passed away over the weekend. Doyle, Buck & Don are "Together Again." I got an e-mail from Doyle a couple of years ago. Seemed like a really sweet guy.

It's a sad day for NASCAR fans too. Benny Parsons, 1973 Winston Cup champion and longtime NBC/TNT race announcer, has died after a battle with lung cancer. Just over a week ago the racing world lost Bobby Hamilton, a local hero here in Tennessee. Cup driver Kenny Wallace also lost his father-in-law today, to cancer.

Life has been pretty busy for me lately. I hate to say it, but it looks like death is pretty busy these days too.
